Located on Vancouver Island in downtown Victoria and surrounded by natural beauty, we are seeking a Senior Architectural Technologist to join our team!

In this role you will lead project teams, including technologists and our project manager, coordinate with external designers and consultants, liaise with the various authorities having jurisdiction, all while collaborating with the Principal of the Firm. We’re looking for a self- motivated team member who can work independently, communicate effectively with team members, and manage several workflows. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of project management with a wide range of project types, from conceptual design (including presentation drawings), through to consultant coordination, production of permit drawings, and site reviews. In this role, you will also be called to push for results by providing exceptional leadership. Systemizing the technical operations of our Firm for greater efficiency will be one of your on-going tasks.

JOB DUTIES

  • Working closely with the Principal to produce schematic design, design development, and contract documents on a variety of project types and sizes.
  • Analyzing building codes, by-laws, space requirements, site requirements and other technical documents and reports.
  • Preparing drawings (CAD or otherwise), specifications, cost estimates and listings of quantity take-offs of material from conceptual drawings and instructions.
  • Developing designs using VectorWorks and/or SketchUp, creating 3D photo-realistic renderings, and assisting in producing design presentations for client meetings.
  • Providing leadership and direction to our production team, our evolving technical detail library, and creating processes to increase our work efficiency.
  • Providing input for our technical team’s employee evaluations and developmental plans.
  • Providing mentorship, guidance and direction to production team members.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Diploma in Architectural Technology, a Bachelor’s Degree, or an experience equivalence.
• Minimum of 6 to 8 years of experience in the field of Architecture. 
• 3-5 years demonstrated experience working with both VectorWorks and SketchUp is a priority
• People management skills – ability to motivate employees to work within a budget and towards a shared vision. We are looking for a person with leadership skills with a heart of gold, someone who can direct, coach and inspire.
• An understanding and demonstrated experience of project profitability.

Salary: Commensurate with experience, starting at 95K
